Does hypnosis work?

Yes! Hypnosis is one of the oldest and most powerful healing modalities that is used to treat a variety of psychological and physical issues. Most people’s concerns about if hypnosis works or not is because of on an incorrect understanding of what hypnosis actually is based on what they’ve seen on television, in movies or experiences of friends who didn’t get results based on the inadequate training of the practitioner. For this reason it’s very important to make sure you select a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist with a State Licensed Diploma, multimodality training and the experience that matches your issue.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes. Our Hypnosis Comfort Guarantee allows you to get 100% of your money. Please call the clinic for more details.

What are the therapist's credentials?

Asher Fox, CCHt is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist with a State Licensed Diploma and 19 years experience who has been trained in a variety of fields of study ranging from cognitive behavioral coaching to neurolinguistic programming to EFT and several other disciplines. He is also a #1 Bestselling author and an internationally recognized expert on overcoming emotional eating. For more information on our individual therapists visit our Orlando Hypnotherapists page.

I have a strong will and am very analytical. Is that going to be a problem with hypnosis?

Not at all. As a matter-of-fact the concept that the weak willed are more likely to go into hypnosis is based on the fallacy that hypnosis is mind control. The truth is that the more intelligent and creative you are the easier it will be for you to follow the therapist instructions and induce a hypnotic state.

Is hypnosis like truth serum and might I say something I wouldn't want to?

No. Because hypnosis isn’t mind control and you’re consciously aware of what’s going on the entire time you have the ability to choose what you say. You will never reveal anything during hypnosis that you don’t want to.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Yes, with the exception of those who suffer from certain mental illnesses or who are too young or old to be able to follow instructions, anyone can be hypnotized. The key is that there are different methods of inducing hypnosis based on the psychological makeup and the specific issue of the individual client. Unfortunately most practicing hypnosis don’t have the level of education that allows them to match the style of hypnosis to the client. Even if you believe that you weren’t able to be hypnotized before, our experienced therapists will undoubtedly enable you to reach your goals quickly using a variety of hypnotic modalities.

Are there statistics about the success rate of hypnosis?

Yes, one of the most thorough studies ever done showed that for a variety of issues:

  • Psychoanalysis had a success rate of 38% after 600 sessions
  • Behavioral therapy had a 72% recovery rate after 22 sessions
  • Hypnotherapy had a 93% recovery rate after only six sessions!

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. We offer and highly recommend coming in for a free consultation to give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, fully understand the process and make sure you are comfortable working with your therapist.

Is hypnosis like mind control?

Absolutely not. The idea that the person being hypnotized has no control is one perpetuated by Hollywood fiction. In reality, you are completely aware and conscious of what’s going on the entire time that you are in hypnosis. Hypnosis cannot be used to make you do something that violates your moral principles and at any time while in hypnosis you can choose to reject any suggestion and even open your eyes and leave if you want to. Hypnosis works because you choose to participate in it.d

Is hypnosis like sleep and will I be aware of what's going on?

While it is shown in Hollywood fiction that people in hypnosis appear to be asleep and don’t know what is happening, in actuality as long as you aren’t actually asleep your conscious mind is always present to some degree. Not only are you not unaware of what’s going on, hypnosis is a state of increased awareness. It’s just that in hypnosis that awareness is turned inwards towards your subconscious mind.

What if I remember something I don't want to remember while in hypnosis?

While repressed memories can come up during your hypnotherapy session, that is usually done intentionally after a thorough discussion with the client. Also, the nature of your subconscious mind is such that it will never show you anything unless you are ready to deal with it. We also have extensive experience in processing any traumatic memories that may present themselves to desensitize the memories and give you the relief you desire and deserve.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you will need to resolve your specific issue will be determined in your free consultation as it’s based on the nature of the problem and your specific psychological makeup. The idea that hypnosis completely resolves issues in one session is another myth perpetuated by hypnotherapists with inadequate training that only know how to do suggestion therapy (see: How to Choose a Hypnotherapist to understand what suggestion therapy is) and subsequently only have one “type” of session they can do. Unfortunately, suggestion therapy typically only provides short-term relief and rarely by itself completely resolves significant issues. That being said, most all issues are resolved in at most four sessions.
